The masturbating to Gygax has begun. There are a ton of these guys crying about this on DragonsCooch and it is getting funnier by the minute. The funny thing is that JMal hasn’t said much on it. Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll not talk

In case you don’t want to wade through pages and pages of message board posts and blog entries and comments feces, this sums up ALL the online RPG fan commentary made in the last 24 hours about 5e D&D:

FUCKING RETARDS – IT’S GOING TO SUCK ASS THAT’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!!

  6. January 11, 2012 11:55 pm

Wise insight regarding 5e from some dumbass mod from enworld.org:
“The only constant in human existence is change.” -Umbran

Reminds me of why I don’t frequent that place anymore, too much Herp in my Derp.
People pay a subscription to read that LOL.

I think Umbran said on EN World he has Asbergers Syndrome or was some other kind of retard. I can’t remember which kind of social retardation it was.

Lots of dads who played D&D see this as an excellent way to get their so-far uninterested kids into the game. But what they should be doing is taking jr. outside and showing him how to hit a baseball or toss a basketball. Or least get the kids uncle who isn’t a wimpy dork to do it and give the lad a fighting chance after he hits puberty.

Yo, role-playing fathers. Stop trying to turn your children into geektards. Keep them far away from D&D, whatever the edition.

Every single kid who is forced to endure playing their unemployed loser father’s SUCKDUNGEON has this to say to dear old fatbeard dad: “THIS WOULD BE COOLER IF IT WERE FOR PLAYSTATION. I’M GOING TO PLAY CALL OF DUTY NOW INSTEAD. OH AND I NEED TWENTY BUCKS.”

      EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

Nunya, you’re in the same boat as Jamal and Christian. Child Protective Services should be called on all of you, because something weird is going on. Especially with Jamal and Christian. They have young children and they spend so much time on this shit too, it makes me wonder what their fugly wives must think. Well, something like this:

Christian: guess what honey? I have 18 subcribers to my new zine now! That’s 5 more than my last 12 attempts to have a zine ever got! Kissing ass on every other blog in the OSR has taken uncountable hours that I could have spent with you and the kids, but it has finally paid off with a big following! My post yesterday about you suprising me with Zingers in my lunch box got 15 comments! And the one where I cry because of all the head shops and liquor stores in the area got some heart warming replies.
Mrs. Christian: That’s great dear! How much did we make?
Christian: Almost 100 dollars tax free!
Mrs. Christian: Um, ok. Let’s get some groceries with it.
Christian: I already spent it on mini’s and game books for my new group for Sunday!
Mrs. Christian: Another group? Your trying AGAIN? Damn, I hate having these jackholes in my house, but at least it won’t be long before it falls apart like the others…

I wish I knew who you were, !. It might help me understand where you were coming from and how our past dealings have managed to turn you into such an ugly, hate-filled person.

At any rate, here I am posting under my own name in a forum where you feel empowered. Unlike you, I am a man of courage willing to face those who hurl insults my way.

I am going to try and explain a few things to you as simply as I can. I will speak to you like a child in the hopes that what I have to say will permeate your thick skull.

You accuse me of being reckless with money. I am not. I am a homeowner in Los Angeles. That is no mean feat. I work hard, I save and I invest. When people have careers and loving spouses with careers of their own, they often have something called “discretionary income.” That’s fun money. I have that, !. In fact, you have reminded me that I have an Amazon gift card that I should use. Maybe I’ll buy some miniatures. I know that me spending my fun money on minis makes you stomp your feet and fume like a toddler.

Yes, I am married and my wife is lovely inside and out. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She cherishes me and I her. I hope you find that someday. I know you don’t have it now. Happy, well-adjusted people don’t write the things that you do.

I have a gaming group. I have been playing with P. and S. for about 5 years and T. for nearly a dozen. We just don’t play that often due to schedule conflicts. When we have had issues with group turnover that has always been with periphery players and is largely due to the fact that LA has a mobile population of hard-working, social people.

About those zines of mine. My zines are labors of love and they mean a lot to me. People have enjoyed reading them for a long time. They have been well-received by people like Mike Mearls, Monte Cook and various OSR personalities. People like them because the care and attention that goes into each issue really shines through. Loviatar – my latest zine – is doing just fine. It’s balance sheet is in the black and 15-20 copies are going out the door per day, thank you.

I’m sure there are details in your little rant that I missed, but family duties call. A family, by the way, is a group of people who care about one another. I wish you had a caring family. Again, happy, nurtured people don’t write the things that you do.

Moving forward, I request that you start a blog of your own. Let the world see what you are capable of creating. You have ripped other people apart, so let’s see your talents, Also, be a man. Stand by your face and your name and have the guts to spew hate in the comments sections of the blogs that you stalk relentlessly instead of cowering here under a ridiculous synonym.

That post was mostly grandmother-approved, except for the absence of misdirected, ironic hatred toward midwestern Americans. Then it would have gotten two wrinlky-thumbs-up.

Hey, more Traveller in Loviatar or I’m cancelling my prescription.

By responding like this you’re giving them what they want. It’s called “rolling with the punches” and it means they’ve won and you’re a big loser!

      • January 16, 2012 12:23 pm

Christian is the winner because this is all just a clever scheme to boost Loviatar sales.

I played 1e in isolation through teenage years with three friends and only picked it up again a few years ago. Ive never looked at even 2e beyond an illegal pdf for a swift smug dismissal.

It is however interesting and revealing to read and compare how three forums gabber about 5e; DF, KKA and therpgsite.

The Knights and Knaves Alehouse discussion is the most erudite but among those who recognise that dead Gygax’s AD&D is paramount and unsurpassable this is a subject for which earnestness indicates insanity. Who cares how much 5e emulates 1e? Or how much a modular 5e permits one to approximate 1e? Or what game anyone is playing at a table not one’s own? The entire usefulness of the online community of blogs and forums could be reduced to a succinct webpage of *best of* recommendation lists. The rest is amusement. My amusement.

When the girl Suckle is indifferent and lazy I like to make a blog post here to antagonise her with a touch of the old ‘me me me me me’.

        > What about our feelings?

Keep working on them, they are coming along nicely.

    • January 18, 2012 1:17 am

“Who cares how much 5e emulates 1e? Or how much a modular 5e permits one to approximate 1e? Or what game anyone is playing at a table not one’s own?”

The interesting and worthwhile bits of the RPG blogs are inevitably concerned with more ‘how’ and less ‘what’.

If it’s fostering precious memories of RPGs in the youth of today (the OSR bloggers of tomorrow) then surely running an entertaining and memorable (and perhaps even profound) game of anything at all and never mind what is the way forward?

SOPA and PIPA – just an excuse for OSR fatbeard blowhards and emasculated twats like Christian to pretend WOTC and HASBRO even know their little blogs even exist.
