Up In Smoke + I Will Be Buying LotFap Carcosa

December 5, 2011

Remember Jewel Throne? Of course you don’t, it was damn near a year ago that it was announced. Unfortunately, Blair is a big ol’ pot smoking wastoid and he probably rolled the submissions up into a fattie and straight blazed those motherfuckers. I hereby declare JT dead, and I also declare that blog dead because now it’s filled will some tl;dr campaign crap that makes my eyes glaze over trying to read. Where did the lusty Algolian hijinks go? Who knows.

Yes, I will be buying the new Carcosa. Just doing it to support Geoff, who lives in the middle of nowhere and rants about the federal government so he needs all the help he can get. Probably he’ll use the money to build a fertilizer bomb and blow up a post office, but he’s earned it in my book and if that’s what he wants to do, fuckin’ go for it, bro.

But I can’t imagine ever pulling this thing out and using it. J4 is all proud of himself that he’s filling the pdf full of hyperlinks and easy navigation shortcuts but when you supersize the page count from 96 pages to 288, you have to do something. I can pick up my Carcosa book and know instantly where to turn whenever I need something, but 288 pages is a fucking unwieldy special needs child that demands a padded helmet and sleeping restraints. Crowing about curing a problem that you created? I award you no points and may God gnaw your balls off. Also it looks horrendous. Kent called the redone cover a paw print, but it looks more like dook-smear on a wad of tp. The interior art is a bunch of wack-ass bullshit too, including the poorly-done map redraft.

But I’m drawing the line at Isle of the Unwanted, I can only support Geoffy’s Ayn Rand lifestyle for so long.

Faggi thumbed his anus fairly vigorously to get that smear.

How does being the willing pivot man in a militia circle jerk earn Geoffy the right to interrupt the delivery of my mail? That would be great if Carblowsa pedporn was not delivered to you because your contribution enabled him to go on a Geoff-had and self-immolate at a post office.

    On second thought, buy two.

  3. December 6, 2011 11:20 am

That is my only real fear about YDIS and my contributions to the lampooning of their suckdungeons here – finally setting off one of those Assbergers Hats lax about taking his psych meds and then later learning they went out and hurt or killed some innocent people. It’s a tragedy just waiting to happen with these Assberger types.

Has Alexass killed someone I haven’t heard about yet? It was only a matter of time. I’ve met tons of fake Aspies in the gaming community (basically, any fatbeard who doesn’t want to shower and date and exhibits antisocial behavior tries to claim they are an Aspie, but most of the time they are just jackholes) and I’m ready to declare Dao the real deal….I’d rather share a cell with Don Rickles for a year than an elevator down from Floor 2 to Floor 1 with Alexasperger. But since I prefer the bunker mentality, survivalist anti society bend of Geoff, I’ll probably pop a few bucks for Carcosa and hope it will supply him with much needed ammunition and bottled water.

You know what would go good with that Carcosa? A copy of my magnum opus Boreheim. I mean, think of how cool your city will look with all the streets looking like numbers (sheer, sheer brilliance, thank you). You do all know you are too stupid to just have streets go left right, or forward like in any sane city, right? Use my rules and your city streets will look like a bit out of 70’s educational cartoon media like Sesame Street or The Phantom Tollbooth. Man, you gotta dig those crazy streets that end up looking like numbers 8 or 6. Outside the box, bitches!

Anyway, please buy it so I can get the hell out of Canada with my skanky GF and go back to LA where they appreciate skeevy, pretentious artists with no talent but lots of chutzpa (that’s right, I’m also a jew. Now you have a really good reason to hate me).

Speaking of dead blogs, I finally had to take mine down. Someone really hurt my feelings on there and my life mate left when he found out I was actually a guy. Maybe I will bring the blog back if the doctors make my dick nub look like an actual snatch. For now I have to say goodbye. Sorry I couldn’t say anything intelligent, but I can say things like “ass shit fuck” all day long. Satan rocks, if anyone can give me virtual high-five.

“he’ll use the money to build a fertilizer bomb and blow up a post office”

Really? He makes child rape and murder a game mechanic and important part of his D&D fantasy world, and the post offices in his area are what you are worried about? Don’t you think there might be a reason he has to live 20 miles away from the nearest elementary school? He’s probably smart enough to not keep the remains on his own property, but maybe the authorities will get lucky and find a clown suit in his attic with the blood stains of an 11 year old girl around the front of the pants.

But don’t bother buyin that crap to support this guy. Just take your own D&D world, remove orcs, make the humans green, purple, or whatever, and make it so you have to rape a little girl for 11 hours to cast your sleep spell. Sprinkle tired-ass Lovecraft monsters liberally. There, just saved you whatever the fuck Carcosa costs.

Has anyone seen ‘No Country For Old Men’?

    • December 11, 2011 10:31 am

Haven’t seen but read. Pretty good, and a quick read, although with your tastes you might find McCarthy’s prose affectations irritating until they blend into the background. You should definitely read Blood Meridian, which is really, really good. McCarthy’s one of the only people other than Gene Wolfe who’s written anything worth reading in the last 30 years.

As one who likes post-apocalypse fiction I was surprised when he made a good fist of The Road. I have been recommended Blood Meridian before but didn’t follow up on it; will take a look.

In fact I was being lazily cryptic. It was the sentiment of ‘No Country For Old Man’ I was hinting at. Judging from the comments on the last post particularly and some on this I fear the cheerful crop of gentleman mischief-makers has been superseded by a nest of brash dunces, unregenerate and insane.

    • December 12, 2011 7:59 am

Don’t worry Kent. I’m sure Sulu will move on to the outer anal side of the condom to lick off his own feces like you seem to enjoy doing.

  13. December 12, 2011 10:05 am

And I’m sure you know this, but if you get a critical edition of Blood Meridian, avoid the prefatory stuff until after you’ve actually read the book, because it’s invariably spoiler-filled and pushes a particular reading. Especially the Harold Bloom version that’s the default for newer editions over here.

Sentimental twat that I am, I enjoy McCarthy’s All the Pretty Horses more. Although it’s hard to wipe that abortion of a film out of my mind’s eye. Oh, and Suttree probably has his best dark humor bits (in contrast to his just flat out dark bits).

  14. December 13, 2011 12:43 am

I never read Suttree, checked it out of the library and then got busy and returned it before I got around to it. The movie version of All the Pretty Horses came out before I’d read any McCarthy. I always come around to modern authors late because I assume everyone is full of shit when they recommend things. It’s a good rule of thumb.

I gave away a lot of books recently, like actual carloads, including a nice edition of The Border Trilogy and decent paperbacks of Blood Meridian and Child of God. I think the guy to whom I gave them will read them, or at least Blood Meridian, which I talked up pretty big.

According to Wikipedia, James Franco is now sniffing around the inevitable Blood Meridian movie to feed my delusion that the cosmos is actively malevolent.

At any rate, my food is not shit. It’s actually quite good. The money I make cooking tomorrow night will buy me a new board. I’ll ride that board when I meet up with some friends. They are pretty cool people, actually. On a related note, I’ll probably buy the new sled on my way to a friend’s house on Monday. We’re going to be playing Burning Wheel. Irony is something those British poofs just don’t get. And let’s face it, they are swimming in it.

There is not just irony in the delusions of of old school gamers. There is extra “funny” in Christian goings on because he seems to be doing the best he can not to let Mr. Suck’s wishes in previous post go to waste. And the fact that he has a bunch of followers encouraging his weird ego trip (trying to leave a “mark” on the OSR – or maybe that’s a bacon stripe like Tao of Suck has in his undies). Jesus Christ, he just did a post about the lousy chump change 30 bucks he got from a Coinstar machine. Guess what? He’s gonna buy more mini’s he will never use! Snare drum rolls. I love Christian taking shots at fat chicks and the entire midwest, meanwhile wagging a finger and asking what the GF’s would think over our ugly language. More good laughs here. Hey Christian, what would your fugly wife think? I think we all know what your 1st wife would think. That you are a tool. Hopefully she is getting laid some pipe from a real man now. Meanwhile, seeing as you have the sort of lesbian look that Jaquays had, maybe you should see about getting some sex change yourself. You are already halfway there it seems. Your wife makes the money and you do the cooking.

Why are YOU watching this site so closely? Because you are as big an asshole as anyone else, that is why, Stop acting like the poor picked on huckleberry. When you shut the group down after the NPC kill, you blamed Los Angeles for your shitty games in your post about it. Boy, are you deluded.

Who cares if you have been going and sulking through years of some other groups games. You probably go to troll for victims for your own games. It seems you might blame the systems (LL, WoD, 3rd ed. D&D, etc etc etc) for your sunday dungeon sessions sucking. But it is your shit skills at lack of ability to make correct choices and wing it. A regular player kills another players character and it’s all good and business carries on as usual. But a player kills an NPC and you shut down the campaign. Wow. I don’t think you have any respect for your game, your players, or yourself. You call the sunday thing “nerd Sunday.” Not even D&D players want to go to a “nerd Sunday.” You are a fucking joke.

Stop worrying about getting followers for your blog and putting together failed zine after failed zine. Learn to actually love the game and you might start actually having fun with it, instead of trying to be a big voice in the OSR. You don’t have the insights of a JaMal or the skanky whore friends of a Zak. Listen to the fucking advice on this site. Get a fucking clue.

Search Poag’s blog. He may have taken them down, but he was proudly displaying them in a series of posts earlier. Dungeon Suk Boy may have linked to them, you can try looking back here. The main one I recall was Poag posting about trying to get Faggi to notice him, so he drew some orcs cutting up a man and fucking/shitting in the various pieces. He talked about how he should have done it with a baby instead to get attention.

Shortly after that Faggi announced the new version of Poag’s gay flip-mat monster book. Evidently little Geoffy was inspired by this in the list of dumbshit monsters on Isle of the Unblown.

My apologies Limpey. The caption reads “Dedicated to my fans at Y.D.I.S.” In English, this means “Dedicated to my fans at Y.D.I.S.” I hope you can appreciate my confusion. In the future, I will assume that phrases on your blog that appear to be straight-forward English actually mean something quite different than what they would mean in English.

      • December 31, 2011 8:49 am

It seems that a conspiracy of unregenerate hackers has altered Poag’s original dedication. Fortunately, I had the foresight to anticipate such underhanded douchebaggery and I preserved Poag’s dedication HERE. Now the world can see Poag’s thoughtful dedication as he truly intended it.

Hey, our English Faggot is on the RPGsite defending kiddie-porn as a “thought experiment.” Kent has officially gagged on one too many re-mastered cocks.

‘Timothy’ … hmm … not really a name for a grown up is it? Of boys’ names only ‘Timothy’ has less potential than ‘Billy’ to survive to maturity with the expectation of being uttered with respect.

Are you really claiming that “Timothy the Fierce” or “Timothy the Mighty” does not stir the blood, and instill fear in the stoutest of Irish drunkards?

Can someone (without cursing) explain what lego has to do with D&D? I too have a nephew whom I occasionally allow get the better of me with some crafty boyish high-jinx in some instant juvenile dungeon. But Im afraid there are many and not only J. Mal and Jeff Rients and Zak S. for whom the game in childish aspic is the limit of their ambition. Is there anyone else out there for whom D&D evolved as they matured and is not merely a redolent summer memory like some Ray Bradbury short story?

Lego has nothing to do with D&D. Fucker (sorry, had to do it).

No, you’ve got it about right with the childish aspic. Playing RPGs is an inherently juvenile activity which has about as much potential for profundity as JMal’s insights into them are deep. It’s playing with toy soldiers, dude, no matter how many charts, tables, maps, mathematical models, or narrative strategies you apply to it. The OSR has done me a great, if difficult to accept, service by placing in stark relief the fact that gamers are almost all emotionally stunted, hero worshiping d-bags resentful of anyone with something better to do with their time. What little joy there is to be derived from playing D&D seems to stem from walling oneself up in the fantasy “dungeon” and hiding from the outside world.

Oh, and just for the record, Gygax was an ignorant dipshit with lousy taste in literature. Anything listed in Appendix N with merit is there purely by coincidence. Conan sucks. Yeah, you heard me, REH was a friggin’ hack. Gardner Fox? Yeah, okay. Lin Carter? Ummm..

I now return you to your regularly scheduled incoherent ravings.

The old JG module “Temple of Ra Accursed by Set” had guidelines for using Legos to model the temple. Like most JG modules, it wasn’t very good.

D&D hasn’t evolved for me, kind of the opposite. I have even more trouble taking it seriously now than I did as a kid, and have been able to sustain literally no “gaming ambition.” I try sometimes to be more serious about it, but it’s an inherently dippy endeavor and it’s really tough to keep a straight face.

      > Playing RPGs is an inherently juvenile activity which has about as much potential for profundity as …

I think all you can say is that for most it *began* as a juvenile activity because of the age the hobby was adopted by gamers.

Profundity is not being aimed at. The question is can gaming be immersive and engaging for adults *as adults* without having one eye on memories of distant games, the other on pleasing one’s children.

I think that an evening’s gaming should be as emotionally intense as rewatching your favourite films. My suspicion is that those who play like children have children’s taste in film. My point is that your group brings whatever taste and maturity they have at their disposal to the table and that the game is a blank canvas. What surprises me is how universally childish this taste is when lego and cartoons are discussed in the same breath as ca Smith.

      >The OSR has done me a great, if difficult to accept, service by placing in stark relief the fact that gamers are almost all emotionally stunted

I read ‘The Elfish Gene’ recently and found it a depressing read.

      >D&D hasn’t evolved for me, kind of the opposite. I have even more trouble taking it seriously now than I did as a kid, and have been able to sustain literally no “gaming ambition.”

We’ve talked bout this before and I remain baffled. I am not likely to understand it without watching you in action. Dumbing down for gaming is a missed opportunity.

Damn it all, now WordPress has started eating comments (unless our gracious host has decided I’m no longer welcome here, for reasons utterly beyond my fathoming).

Profundity is not impossible although I’d hesitate to describe anything I’ve done as such (it just smacks of self-aggrandisement). If I were to describe how my gaming has altered it would be something like juvenile mediocrity > adolescent pretension > occasionally genuinely harrowing stuff > ironic mediocrity where I’d try harder if I thought nobody would get the giggles after a moment or two. One hates to talk down one’s players but it can’t be denied that I’ve had honestly moving experiences with groups of artists/actors/academics and at best enjoyable shenanigans with self-identified ‘gamers’.

Also: I’m glad I’m not the only one who was brought down by Barrowcliffe’s masochistic hatchet job. I recommend it to people in a ‘read and be cautioned’ kind of way but it did upset me somewhat.

I’ve witnessed it being immersive and engaging for adults, but I think the “as adults” part is more problematic. The group I’m thinking of utilizes the game as an outlet for all of their real-world frustrations and impotencies, engaging in behavior with their PCs that is troubling from a psychological standpoint and/or simply an expression of wish-fulfillment. There’s something about devoting endless hours to enacting the roles of fantasy characters that has always struck me as “escapist” (and not in the good sense). There’s a fine line between recreation and denial/rejection of reality, and I fear too many gamers cross that line sometime in their teens and never find their way back (case in point: RJK). I’m sure there are exceptions.

Getting too “profound” in here, though. What is this, VampireMUD? Why is lego so expensive and why did Clark Ashton Smith have such a massive gay following? (

Sorry, I’ll stick to bashing neckbeards from here on out :).

Lego is expensive because it’s popular. My own kids have a metric crapload of the stuff. I would never buy any of the Lego games for them, though. They’re perfectly capable of using the regular minifigs and blocks, etc. to create their own “dungeons”, and have been doing so since long before Heroica was on the horizon. And no, I don’t play Legos with them.

Not sure about the affinity of the gay community for CAS, unless it has to do with poetry and art attracting a disproportionate number of “alternative” lifestyle types across the board. I don’t think much has changed on that score–many of the current hardcore CAS fans, editors, etc. still strike me as gay. For the record (such as it is), I don’t have a problem with that, and I don’t understand the obsession around here with matters of sexual preference.

      • January 4, 2012 8:17 am

Thanks. I suspect it has something to do with the long chaste tradition of the “erudite pen pal.” Everyone wants to know whether he wants to touch the other guy’s butt more than the other guy is eager to reciprocate, or less. Just in case. But then they never meet, or if they do it gets uncomfortable. Why else would the “The Hounds of Tindalos” and “The Shambler from the Stars” be so…worked up?

The funny thing about the lego games is they’re cheaper than a goddamn module that maybe 1,000 people will ever read.

So many of those rooms were forbidden or just plain incomprehensible to us as kids.

That’s a fairly interesting blog though you seem a bit nutty. You could do with digesting your cultural references longer before regurgitation. Its like you can’t wait to share and what comes out is only once-chewed.

Your contributions to the RPG Site seem to be either astute observations, pearls cast before swine (not Swine though) or Chevski-like regurgitations of your prior observations. There’s little there to be annoyed with, to be honest – or perhaps people have stopped taking themselves quite so seriously?
