How Not to Express Your ‘Creativity’

March 3, 2011

92.8% of each session of this fucking campaign is devoted to explaining how to pronounce shit.

You’ll love this shit – now OSR is punctuation.

I hope this doesn’t take all the fun out of it for any of you, but I’d honestly like to hear yourdungeonissuck’s take on my proposal. I can be just as full of shit as anyone else with a blog.

(An ampersand is not a punctuation mark, though.)

After RJK, this idjit is clearly the most delusional OSR personality out there in terms of talent and her perception of the level of public interest in ridiculous wares. Another prime example of unbridled creativity unadulterated by any kind of editorial sensibility. At least Raggi has a following. She has nothing but a handful of half-hearted cheerleaders.

Aw. Making fun of the conlang geeks? Shooting fish in a barrel, dude.

    Exciting to see this reaction.
    –Please, go on. 🙂

So, if one of your players finds a ‘KVadrXtsaeukd’, how does that work? Do you write it onto their character sheet? Do they write it down phonetically? Would ‘KVX’ be cool? Or do you demand proper spelling and tell it to them?

“Are you ready? Okay, K-V-a-d… uh, no wait – stop. The ‘V’ is capitalized. Because it is, that’s why. Okay, from the top – K-V-a-d-r-CAPITAL X-t…”

Do your players sometimes get the ‘KVadrXtsaeukd’ confused with the ‘KSvardXudem’? Is this frustrating for them? You?

Can you ask Rob if he’ll change his blog name to ‘Lord of Green Drizzleshits’?

Except for that last one, I think these are legit and interesting questions.

I honestly would have no idea how to pronounce any of that. I’m all for setting a campaign apart with interesting names for things, but this seems to be pushing it. And yes, it does keep people away who might otherwise be interested. It’s not a good trade off of effort to learn for potential enjoyment of the game.

Thanks, I didn’t know about tgt. The level of detail and obvious imagination and work that went into this made me want to check it out further. I didn’t bother with the pronunciation crap, but really thought that gamers with a little more processing power than the average commenter on this roll of shitwipe might find some good stuff here.

Why does everyone just lose their shit when someone has the temerity to poke fun at their pretentious little bubbles?

Have a laugh, move on, check back later. Get over yourselves.
