Delving Dumber

February 7, 2011

Delving Deeper is really heating up!  Check out the sweet new cover, inspired by the G.I. Joe cartoon where there’s these giant fucking combats, but there’s no blood and no one ever dies.  I bet when those Orcs get hit, they pop their parachutes and float to safety, or maybe they bail out of their smoking armor just before it explodes.

But the exciting news is the tease at the bottom: “Coming next week – a look at some of the character classes!”  Ooooh ooh oooh, I can’t wait!  I wonder what they’ll be?  ‘Fighting-Man’ or ‘Fighter’ or ‘Man that Fights’?  Maybe they’ll go nuts and give us something completely new like ‘Warrior’!  I’m looking forward to some curve balls, like having ‘Mages’ instead of ‘Magic-Users’.  I wonder if there’s gonna be a playable race/class that is shorter than humans, but stockier & bearded, and maybe they’re kinda taciturn, but long-lived and good at spotting dungeon construction, but they don’t get along with Elves?  Aaaaah, I don’t know and the SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!

Please fill the comments with guesses about what compelling new character classes you think Brave Halfling has in store for us!

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they will include the fan-favorite “Jesusoid” class, which channels the powers of God for healing, redemption and Old-testament style smiting! Maybe they will go really wild and call them “Acolytes” or “Taliban”.

Maybe at long last we’ll have a real “rouge” class.

I also hear thieves are going to be called sleight-of-hand-omancers.

Yeah, the rouge class will be the only class skilled in expertly applying make up.

What if he really mixes it up and calls them fighting men, but then has you roll a d10 for hit points? Innovation city!

It’s got this nifty chart to determine how much XP your character gains when you don’t attend sessions, and it’s even more generous if you never actually play the character.

Seeing as how 90% of the OSRobots don’t really play, I think this rule is certain to be a winner!

I wonder if DD will have innovations like what’s found in this list of classes:
